Cabinets

The word gets used loosely. Plenty of Atlanta showrooms call semi-custom cabinetry “custom” — meaning you can pick from preset sizes in three-inch increments and choose a door from a finite list.

What "Custom" Actually Means

The word gets used loosely. Plenty of Atlanta showrooms call semi-custom cabinetry “custom” — meaning you can pick from preset sizes in three-inch increments and choose a door from a finite list. We mean built to dimension. If your wall measures 118 ¾ inches, that’s what we build to. No filler strip to absorb the difference, no compromise on the corner. If your ceiling is 9’2″, the uppers run to 9’2″.

This matters most in the houses Atlanta actually has. The 1995 kitchen in Johns Creek with a bulkhead over the cabinets. The 1948 Virginia-Highland bungalow where nothing is square. The Decatur ranch with the beam in the wrong place. Custom fabrication is the difference between working around those and solving them.

Construction: Framed, Frameless, Inset

Framed A face frame across the front of the box — the traditional American build. Most flexible for custom sizing, most forgiving on out-of-square walls, and well suited to transitional and traditional Atlanta homes. Full-overlay doors still give you a clean modern face if that’s the look.

Frameless Doors mount straight to the box. You gain about an inch of usable width per cabinet and drawers that run nearly the full interior. Tight, consistent reveals. Best choice when storage volume is the priority or the kitchen is contemporary.

Inset Doors sit flush within the frame. Hardest to build correctly and the most expensive — tolerances are measured in fractions of a millimeter. It’s also the most beautiful, and it belongs in period homes: Ansley Park, Druid Hills, Inman Park.

A note on inset and Atlanta humidity: flush-fit doors move seasonally. Wood expands in a Georgia summer and contracts under winter heat. Reveals need to be set with that in mind, and the material has to be properly dried before it’s cut. This is where inset jobs go wrong, and it’s why we don’t rush them.

Door Styles & Finishes

Shaker is still the most requested profile in Atlanta and works in nearly every house here. We build it in standard, slim-rail and beveled variations. Beyond that: raised-panel traditional, flat slab, reeded and fluted.

Finishes cover painted whites, creams and greys; saturated colors — forest green, navy, charcoal; and stained or natural oak, walnut and rift-cut white oak. Custom color matching available.

Custom Closets & Storage

The same shop, the same materials, applied to storage.

Walk-in and reach-in closets — double-hang and long-hang zones sized to your wardrobe, drawer banks, shoe shelving, valet rods, hampers, integrated LED. Pantries — pull-out shelving, deep drawers for small appliances, dedicated small-appliance garages. Mudrooms — lockers, bench seating, boot storage off the garage. Laundry — folding counters, hanging rods, hidden hamper pull-outs. Garage and under-stair — full-height storage walls, custom-fit dead space builds.

A closet system is typically a two- to four-day install and one of the highest-return improvements per dollar in an Atlanta home.

Choosing Well

Start with the room. Low ceilings and limited light want lighter finishes and simpler profiles. Open-plan kitchens can carry darker color and heavier detail. Selling within a few years? Stay nearer neutral. Staying put? Buy the color you actually want.

Then be honest about storage. Count the pans, the small appliances, the pantry goods. Interior fittings cost far less to include now than to retrofit later.

Pair Cabinets and Stone Together

A white that reads warm next to one quartz will read yellow next to another. Make both selections in the same room under the same light — or come to the shop, where we keep doors and full slabs side by side.
